This trip is designed to feel effortless, welcoming, and genuinely special from the moment you arrive. You begin with five nights at Salaya Beach Houses, a small and relaxed retreat where it is easy to settle into a natural rhythm. Mornings are spent exploring vibrant reefs filled with color, turtles glide past without a care, and there is always something new to notice, from tiny macro life to swirling schools of fish. Afternoons stretch out over long, unhurried meals made with fresh local ingredients, followed by quiet time by the sea. It is the kind of place where the atmosphere feels personal, where the staff quickly know your name, and where slowing down happens without effort.
The journey continues with five nights at Amun Ini Resort, where the setting brings a sense of space and perspective. Perched above the Bohol Sea, the views are striking, especially as the light changes at sunrise and sunset. The diving here stands out for its variety, offering both exceptional macro encounters and the thrill of pelagics moving through deeper water, so every dive feels a little different from the last. Back at the resort, time is just as well spent by the infinity pool or simply taking in the surroundings. Dining at Salaya is a central part of the experience and reflects the same care and attention found throughout the resort. The cuisine blends European, Asian, and Filipino influences, with a strong focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and everything prepared in house. The menu is varied without feeling overwhelming, making it easy to find something that suits your mood after a morning of diving or a relaxed afternoon by the water.
You will find plenty of fresh seafood, from grilled fish and prawns to ceviche-style dishes, alongside crisp salads, homemade pastas, and well executed favorites like burgers and curries. Filipino classics are also thoughtfully represented, giving you a chance to try local flavors in a refined but approachable way. Breakfasts are generous and fresh, with tropical fruits, eggs made to order, and good coffee setting the tone for the day, while dinners can be a little more indulgent with carefully prepared mains and well-balanced flavors.
There is a consistency to the food that stands out. Dishes feel clean, fresh, and full of flavor without being overly heavy, and there is a sense that everything is made with care. Whether it is a light lunch between dives or a slower evening meal, dining at Salaya feels relaxed, satisfying, and very much in keeping with the overall style of the resort.
Diving at Salaya is a standout part of the experience, set along the Dauin coastline, one of the most diverse dive regions in the Philippines. The area is especially well known for its world class muck diving, where the focus shifts to the smaller and more unusual marine life that many divers rarely get to see. On any given dive, you might encounter frogfish perfectly camouflaged in the sand, blue ring octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish, seahorses, ghost pipefish, and an incredible variety of nudibranchs in every shape and color. It is the kind of diving that rewards patience and curiosity, with something new to discover every time you descend.
There is also a nice balance to the diving here. Alongside the macro focused sites, there are healthy reefs and artificial structures that attract schooling fish, jacks, and barracuda, adding a wider perspective to the experience. Just offshore, Apo Island offers a completely different environment, with vibrant coral gardens, large schools of fish, and frequent turtle encounters, making it one of the highlights of the region.
The diving is made easy and enjoyable with a well-run, on-site dive center and experienced guides who have an incredible eye for finding even the most well-hidden critters. Everything is set up to feel smooth and unhurried, whether you are heading out for a quick local dive or a full day exploring further afield. Overall, Salaya offers a rare combination of detailed macro life and varied reef diving, all delivered in a relaxed and personal way that keeps divers coming back.
Apo Island 3 Tank Dive Trip
Diving at Apo Island is one of the defining experiences of this region and is known for some of the healthiest coral reefs in the Philippines. The island is a protected marine sanctuary, and it shows as soon as you enter the water. Sites like Chapel Point and Rock Point are covered in dense hard corals, table corals, and colorful soft corals, creating a reef that feels full of life in every direction.
Turtles are a constant presence here and encounters are almost guaranteed. It is common to see green sea turtles feeding on the reef, resting on coral ledges, or swimming calmly alongside divers. In the blue, large schools of bigeye jacks and barracuda often move in formation, while snappers and fusiliers fill the water column. On the reef itself, you will also find sweetlips, groupers, moray eels, and plenty of smaller reef fish adding to the overall activity.
Some sites feature gentle drift conditions, allowing you to move effortlessly along the reef, while others offer steeper walls and drop offs where the chance of spotting larger pelagic life increases. Visibility is typically excellent, often stretching well beyond 20 meters, which makes it easy to take in both the detail of the reef and the scale of the schooling fish.
Apo Island brings a different energy compared to the mainland diving. It is less about searching and more about being surrounded by life, with consistent turtle encounters, healthy coral, and large schools of fish combining to create dives that feel vibrant, immersive, and memorable every time.
Amun Ini Resort is set on a quiet hillside above the Bohol Sea, surrounded by tropical greenery and overlooking a secluded stretch of coastline. With only a small number of rooms, the resort feels private and unhurried, and everything is designed to make the most of the setting, from the infinity pool to the open terraces that look out across the water. There is a natural sense of space throughout, with the ocean always in view and a calm, relaxed atmosphere that carries through the entire property.
The rooms are spacious and consistently designed, each around 60 square meters with uninterrupted sea views. Every room features a private terrace, large sliding doors, and plenty of natural light, creating an easy connection between indoor and outdoor space. Inside, you will find king or twin bed configurations, a comfortable sitting area, air conditioning, and a well sized bathroom with double sinks and a separate shower. The style is clean and understated, with warm wood tones and simple finishes that keep the focus on comfort and the view. No matter which room you choose, the experience feels the same, generous in space, quietly refined, and always oriented toward the sea.
Food at Amun Ini is fresh, varied, and consistently well done, with a menu that combines international dishes and Filipino flavors. Seafood is a highlight, often served as a daily catch, alongside grilled meats, pasta, salads, and wood fired pizzas. There is plenty of choice, with lighter options after diving and more substantial dishes in the evening.
Everything is prepared to order using local ingredients, with a focus on clean, well-balanced flavors rather than anything overly complex. Meals are served in an open setting overlooking the sea, and the quality and consistency of the food make it an easy part of the experience to enjoy throughout your stay.
